Community involvement, community support, national praise
The Comprehensive Energy Plan is based on input and ideas from hundreds of people from throughout our community, including residential and commercial customers, civic leaders, government officials, industry experts, regulators and environmentalists.
We received support from numerous community groups and organizations, including the Kansas City Area Development Council, the Mid-America Regional Council, the Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City, the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 412, as well as numerous mayors, city councils, chambers of commerce, and economic development agencies.
In 2007, our collective efforts in developing the Comprehensive Energy Plan were recognized by the Edison Electric Institute, which awarded KCP&L its highest honor for distinguished leadership, innovation and contribution to the advancement of the electric industry.
